My Substack account is the newest part of my journey as an individual investor, which started in 2023, when I was 32 years old.

I decided that my fixed-term account, holding tens of thousands of euros, wasn’t doing anything interesting at almost 3% per year.

It felt both very interesting and very scary, because the last thing I wanted to do was to lose everything I had saved and received.

In France, where I live, I feel our society is sorted based on the money you hold (and cultural capital as well). So losing your wealth on the stock market is a bit of a 19th-century nightmare.

Before that, the only investments I had were in fixed-term accounts. What you get there merely offsets inflation, so what seems safe in the short term is a long-term mistake.

First, I started checking online what else I could do with that money — mostly on YouTube, then through books. I had the chance to find great content on French YouTube at the time, and I quickly discovered superinvestors, who are great teachers too.

I invested in managed real estate funds (SCPI) and ETFs in June 2023, and in individual stocks in October 2023. I decided to track my performance from October 2nd, 2023. But honestly, the first two years were mostly about training and learning.

I made some mistakes, and I had some luck. In 2023, I ended the year with a pretty good +15%. Not bad, especially starting in October. In 2024, some stocks I held were +40%, and I decided to keep them, and they ended up down 50%. Some were up too, and I finished the year at 4.5%. In 2025, Liberation Day and my stronger performance in individual stocks convinced me to hold exclusively individual companies: all I got from ETFs was weekend anxiety over the Nasdaq’s valuation and the possibility of an oil crisis or a war breaking out between some countries.

This Substack account has been my full-time job since May 2026, and I am here to share with you my insights, my passion, and my knowledge of the stock market. I invest here 100% of my personal wealth allocated to stocks. It’s a six-figure portfolio, and the last thing I want is to lose it.

Before that, I earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Management and a master’s degree in Project Management, with seven years of experience in that field and in IT project management, along with a PMP certification. Unlike most investors, who come from a finance background, part of my insight comes from that experience.

The objective of this website is to provide you with:

  • Educational content to take you from a rookie investor to full autonomy,

  • Ideas for portfolio design,

  • Ideas of companies to invest in, to follow on a watchlist,

  • Active follow-up of a portfolio of 15 to 20 companies I am personally invested in. The articles are designed to take between one and two hours a week to follow all these companies, covering the essential information.

The goal is also to give you the information I would have loved to have had access to as someone eager to invest but with little time to spare for it.

I will keep you informed of the buys and sells in my portfolio, as they reflect my personal convictions. Please do not replicate my portfolio, as its stock selection and position sizing are tailored to my personal preferences. The best thing you can do is learn what you need here to become an autonomous investor.

The terms and conditions are defined at the following link: https://jbpeter.substack.com/tos

I wish you a very pleasant investing journey — one of growing knowledge and prosperity, enough to reach your financial goals.
